"Bolton's visit to Serbia depends of Pristina, Washington without comment" (Voice of America, Kurir, FoNet, TV N1, B92)
Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said that the US President's National Security Advisory John Bolton might visit the region in late August, B92 reports. Dacic stated there are good prospects for Bolton's visit to Serbia if there are some positive indications that Pristina might revoke the tariffs.
Bolton's visit to Serbia would mean that the Kosovo issue is not a done deal for US, meaning that one side cannot win all at the expense of the other, which in turn means that unilaterally declared Kosovo independence is on slippery ground, Dacic told Belgrade-based daily Kurir.
Official standpoint of the former US Administration was that the Kosovo issue is resolved, and that they are not going to deal with it anymore, transferring Kosovo related issues to the third and fourth ranked officials within US State Department, Dacic recalled. He added that US standpoint had experienced a serious change.
Meanwhile, the US National Security Council has no comments on the Serbian media reports that National Security Advisory John Bolton might visit Belgrade and Pristina, the Voice of America reported on Wednesday.
Blic newspaper reported earlier that Bolton met in Washington recently with the Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic and tweeted later that they agreed that the dialogue must move forward because neither side benefits from the status quo. Dacic told the Voice of America following that meeting “the US administration has realized that the problem is not in Belgrade but in Pristina”.
Bolton has called Belgrade and Pristina to reach an agreement on several occasions. He is also the first US official to say in public that Washington is not excluding possible “territorial corrections”, the Voice of America said.
