Thaci promises new Kosovo government will abolish tariffs (Vecernje Novosti)
Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti claims that Kosovo President Hashim Thaci ''publicly promised in New York'' that the new government, once it is formed after the elections, will abolish 100% tariffs on goods from central Serbia.
''As Novosti unofficially finds out, Thaci said this on Sunday at a traditional informal dinner organised for the leaders of the Western Balkans by Federica Mogherini, on the margins of the session of the UN General Assembly,'' writes the daily.
At this dinner, Serbia was represented by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic who assessed that Serbia is committed to dialogue with Pristina and finding a compromise solution, and that a full membership in the European Union is Serbia's key foreign policy priority.
- Strict adherence to the concluded and agreed frameworks of regional cooperation by all participants in the region, without exception, is a precondition for successful realization and improvement of regional cooperation - Dacic said during the informal dinner.
Dacic also said that he expected the next EU High Representative to continue to contribute more decisively to the process in order to reach solutions acceptable to all parties, while insisting on fulfilling the commitments made.
He stressed that Serbia and the region as a whole belong in the EU, that Serbia was committed to peace and stability in the region and that one of the Belgrade's foreign policy priorities was commitment to regional stability.
A statement from the European Commission said that at the meeting, hosted by Mogherini, everyone supported the continuation of the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue and "near reaching of a legally binding agreement on full normalization of relations".
