RTS: ROSU intrusion in north of Kosovo, two persons arrested (Serbian media)

Serbian national broadcaster RTS reported today that more than 25 armored vehicles and SUVs of Kosovo special police unit ROSU and around 100 police members entered the north of Kosovo and arrested two persons. According to the Kosovo police two persons were arrested in Mitrovica North, one police officer in connection with the murder of Oliver Ivanovic and another person who was found in possession of weapon. Serbian media reported second person is a son of North Regional Operations Chief Zeljko Bojic, for whom police is also searching. Following the action, police withdrew to the south. Meanwhile Serbian officials reacted to the police action in the north, terming it as “intimidation of Serbs following the fourth Pristina’s debacle in Interpol”. Director of the Serbian police Vladimir Rebic told RTS this morning that the Serbian police during the night had information that Pristina authorities would enter the north of Kosovo. He added Belgrade is ready to react in case of the exodus of the Serbian population, however, he remains convinced international community would not allow it. Rebic also assessed the Kosovo police action as intimidation and negative reaction following the fourth Pristina’s debacle in Interpol. Chairman of the Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun said ROSU action is a performance intended for domestic public in Kosovo following the debacle in Interpol and demonstration of excessive power towards KP members of the Serbian nationality. He added Pristina wishes to cause further destabilization and asking why such use of power was needed. Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric told TV Pink one of the main targets of this morning Kosovo police action in the north of Kosovo was North Regional Operations Chief Zeljko Bojic. Djuric also said that Kosovo police raided Bojic’s apartment, conducted a search and took his son Vasilije in unknown direction. “The aim is clear – intimidation and removal of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. This is yet another in a series of attempts to make the lives of Serbs in Kosovo unbearable, to criminalize the north, to criminalize the Serbs, accuse them for the most serious and horrible crimes, but also to accuse the Serbs for the murder of Oliver Ivanovic,” Djuric stated.
