NATO to remain in Kosovo (IRS, Tanjug)
Despite numerous challenges in the Middle East and Ukraine, NATO is not planning to reduce the number of its troops in Kosovo, a high-ranking NATO diplomat told Tanjug . The troops in Kosovo have a clear mandate from the UN Security Council, and both the Albanians and Serbs want them to stay, said the diplomat who wished to remain anonymous. He assessed that KFOR has proved itself successful, adding that he does not expect the launch of an initiative to review the KFOR mission at the upcoming summit in Wales. Heads of states and prime ministers of 28 NATO members will meet in Newport, near Cardiff, from September 4 to 5, to discuss the plan for withdrawal from Afghanistan, the situation in the Middle East and the Ukrainian crisis.
