Germany pressuring Pristina to remove "war leaders" (Vecernje Novosti)
Departure of "war leaders", as stated in the analysis, is needed to consolidate democracy in Kosovo and create the conditions for achieving justice and reconciliation.
The International Institute for Middle-East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) from Ljubljana said in an analysis of the situation in Kosovo, ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, that there is an interest of the international community to remove "war leaders" from the political life of Pristina.
"In this context, the strong pressure from Germany is noted, which wants most of the current leaders to leave the political scene after the signing of the Brussels Treaty and parliamentary elections, including the Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci," the report said.
This is why, according to the Slovenian Institute, the Special War Crimes Court is being formed to investigate the allegations in the investigation of the Council of Europe on human organ trafficking and prosecute those responsible.
Departure of "war leaders", as stated in the analysis, is needed to consolidate democracy in Kosovo and create the conditions for achieving justice and reconciliation.
There are strong economic reasons for the Pristina policy change, because the ruling party has failed to find a suitable solution to the high rate of unemployment and to fight corruption.
IFIMES, by citing analysts, describes Kosovo as "a haven for organized crime and corruption," and the cause are weakened institutions and strong links between political and criminal structures.
"What kind of government will Kosovo get on June 8th, will decide Kosovo's citizens, but the impression remains that Kosovo needs fundamental changes and a new beginning," says IFIMES.
