Djuric: State and people have shown responsibility (RTS)

The issue of division of mandates to Serbian MPs in the Kosovo parliament is important and encroaches into political rights of Serbs, said head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric and added that Serbia counts on support from all who advocate the rule of law.

Djuric said to RTS that division of mandates is not over yet and that Serbia is having ongoing discussions with the most influential states in the European Union and other states over that issue.

“We can be proud of the fact that we have shown responsibility, as a state and as a nation, and that unity guarantees us that we’ll be unavoidable factor in the political life in the province, what is important for us,” said Djuric.

He went on to say that it could be expected that Serbs who will participate in the work of provincial parliament will act united and in coordination with their own state.

“Turnout on this elections was bigger or the same the one in recent local elections, even the local and parliamentary ones which were held in Serbian system,” said Djuric.

He underlined that elections are not in direct relation with the Brussels agreement, however it is certain that Berlin looks at the fact that Serbia has responsible approach toward certain issues. “We are showing that we want to settle problems and relations by peaceful, political and democratic means,” said Djuric and added that some institutions in Pristina did all they could in order that Serbs don’t participate in elections.
