The Socialists’ Movement members the first (Vecernje Novosti)

The largest number of votes in the elections for the parliament of Kosovo received lesser known Serbian candidates. The Socialists' Movement members from Leposavic/Leposaviq left behind and some representatives of the Albanians.

Despite resistance from the northern Kosovo Serbs to vote in parliamentary elections in Kosovo on June 8, the most votes in the Serbian List, supported by Belgrade, won the candidates from the north who mostly are unknown to the general public.

In addition to Velimir Rakic from Leposavic/Leposaviq, the best placed of all Serbian candidates (8,802 votes), among the top five are three politicians from this place: Slavko Simic, Milka Vuletic and Milena Milicevic. All of them are from the Socialists’ Movement of Aleksandar Vulin and who have left behind the Serbian candidates far better known in politics. They are better ranked than some political representatives of the Albanians.

- Although it is about anonymous cadre, those are primarily honest people. We have proposed them guaranteeing that they will behave in the interest of our people and will not to move to another option, as you can see, the people listened - says the Mayor of Leposavic/Leposaviq Dragan Jablanović.

Based on the still unofficial results, out of the ten seats guaranteed for Serbs within Kosovo Assembly, nine seats will belong to the Serbian List and one to the Progressive Democratic Party Nenad Rasic. In addition to candidates from the north who are members of the Socialists Movement, the top ten include and candidates from the Serbian List who are from the Independent Liberal Party, which had already participated in the Kosovo Parliament in the period when the official Belgrade did not support Serb participation in Kosovo institutions.

To the question whether he expects and these MPs to be in coordination with the national leadership of Serbia, Aleksandar Jablanović, president of the Serbian List says:

- All that they have been doing in these elections has been agreed with the Serbian state leadership. I am sure that all representatives of the Serbian List in this session will represent Serbian interests in close collaboration with the Government of Serbia.

Upon the announcement of the final results will start and negotiations on additional seats for Serbian representatives.

A good selection of candidates

The high placement of candidates from Vulin’s party (PS - Socialists' Movement), better than SNS staff, but also from Albanian candidates, analyst Dusan Janjic comments to our newspapers:

- The vote was for the name and obviously the PS had a good overview of who to put on the list. Let us remember the remarks that Vulin strengthen party infrastructure using his position in the Office for Kosovo and Metohija. Now, however, the question is how the Albanian parties will welcome the PS MPs in the Kosovo Assembly, considering they come from the left-wing and pro-Russian parties.
