UNS and DNKiM are requesting resignation of the management of RTK 2 (KIM Radio)
The Journalist’s Association of Serbia (UNS) and the Association of Journalists of K&M (DNKiM) are requesting resignation of the management of RTK 2 because of reporting during the Saturday’s protests in Pristina, the politicization of the profession, uncritical attitude towards the Kosovo authorities, the relation towards the profession and their reporters in the field.
According to the joint UNS and DNKiM statement, only at the end of the day (Saturday, the day when protests about Trepca were held in Pristina) RTK 2 management responded, claiming that "representatives of RTK 2 are present at all events occurring in the Republic of Kosovo and beyond." They cited democratic rights, reminding Kosovo Albanian political parties to emulate to the "case of public service and other institutions, which show how all communities can work together and function in an effective way.
Journalists' Associations stated that "these semi-literate structures show how public broadcaster RTK 2 is not in the service of profession, but in the service of promotion and success of the" Republic of Kosovo "and how it is deeply influenced by the government".
The statement reads that UNS and DNKiM, who initiated the launch of an independent channel, are warning on poor quality of the current Public Service, as well as the implications which their work has on journalist’s profession and the overall state in the Serbian-speaking area in Kosovo.
