It is illusory to believe that Serbia will recognize independence of Kosovo (IRS, Tanjug)

Marko Djuric, head of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija, stated on Monday that people in Kosovo should not be misguided that Serbia will recognize the independence of its southern province.

“The process of normalization (of relations) is irreversible, and constant delusion about Serbia's recognition of the independence of KiM is a reflection of political immaturity and a worrying lack of focus on real problems in KiM - unemployment, corruption and bad international relations,” Djuric told Tanjug.

Kosovo Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaci said in an interview for news agency APA that he is certain that Serbia will officially recognize Kosovo's independence in foreseeable future.

The EU accession of Serbia and Kosovo will be linked to the recognition of Kosovo, Thaci said.

“Thaci should accept reality and take into account that citizens are harmed by any postponement of the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, which is simultaneously the process of establishing the basis for economic development of KiM,” Djuric said in reaction to Thaci's statement.
