Pristina – fake neighbor (Vecernje Novosti)
Belgrade didn’t recognize Kosovo for a neighbor with a single world, claim Serbian misters who attended a regional meeting in Pristina on 25 March, where a joint declaration was adopted mentioning ‘good neighboring relations’.
In the preamble of the document, supported by the representatives of Serbia, Albanian, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Kosovo, which was publish on the European Commission’ s web page, writes:
We minister of foreign affairs and traffic in Western Balkan...adopted a joint statement in order to confirm our dedication to connection, good neighboring relations, regional cooperation and European integration. This formulation was interpreted by Prisitna media as ‘verification ‘ that Serbia recognizes Kosovo for its neighbor.
Serbian Foreign Minister who participated at the meeting, Ivica, Dacic, said to Novosti that adopted document in no way means ‘recognition’ of independence, since it is known in what way the states are recognized. “Formulation referred to good neighboring relations in the region, and Serbia is in favor of good neighboring relations, of course, with all that we consider as neighbors, and Kosovo does not have that status,” said Dacic.
Serbian Minister for Traffic, Zorana Mihajlovic, also participated at the meeting and denied that a step forward was made toward the recognition of Kosovo’s statehood. “Pristina can wave with whatever it wishes, but Serbia in no way recognized Kosovo. How can that be possible at all at an informal meeting of six foreign ministers and ministers of traffic? Major regional infrastructure projects don’t recognize borders. Focus was on economy and not on politics,” said Mihajlovic.
