NGO ‘Aktiv’ has launched the initiative for construction of the safe house in North Mitrovica.

In cooperation with the Embassy of Finland in Kosovo, NGO ‘Aktiv’ has organized the donor conference aiming at rising funds amounting to EUR 180.000 needed for construction of the safe house.

The initiative was launched following a survey on family violence which showed that 34 per cent of women in Kosovo are victims of some sort of violence, be it physical, psychological, material or sexual, whereas 96 per cent of respondents don’t trust in the institutional protection in such cases.

Even though there are seven safe houses in Kosovo, which shelter victims of violence, there is no safe house in the Serbian settlements, thus in ‘Aktiv’ believe that their project will be supported.
