Jevtić: Responsible for crimes must be punished (KIM Radio)
The Serbian List will support constitutional amendments for creation of the special court, said Minister for Communities and Return in the Kosovo government Dalibor Jevtic, and stressed that its creation is important for the future of Kosovo. “Those who committed crimes must be held responsible,” said Jevtic.
Kosovo parliament’s session dedicated to constitutional amendments and the draft law on the creation of the special court for war crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army is set for tomorrow.
According to Pristina-based media it is possible that MPs fail to adopt the proposal for the creation of the special court because beside the MPs form the ranks of the opposition, some members from the ranks of the ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo of Hashim Thaci could vote against, too.
Serbian MPs will support the creation of the special court, said Jevtic.
“For sure it wasn’t easy when Serbia established the special court for war crimes in Kosovo, which led to 176 army and police officers being sentenced for crimes and all negative things committed during the conflict here in Kosovo. In the process of Euro-integrations and the process of building of a better future for all who live in Kosovo this issue should be settled,” said Jevtic.
Jevtic went on to say that things can’t be generalized, and that finger should not be point toward the entire nation, and that such courts are needed in order to be establish who are the ones that have committed crimes.
