Green card to replace vehicle insurance as of 1 August (RTK2)
Implementation of the new agreement reached between Belgrade and Pristina with regard to vehicle insurance is due to start as of 1 August, Pristina negotiation team confirmed.
Kosovo registration plates RKS and KS will still be valid in Kosovo, whereas head of Pristina negotiation team Edita Tahiri said that registration plates KS will still be discussed in Brussels.
The agreement on freedom of movement reached between Belgrade and Pristina back in 2011 had regulated movement of individuals and vehicles at crossings, however it caused lot of hardship to travelers since it did not regulate mutual recognition of insurance policies. The agreement reached in Brussels on 23 June provides introduction of the insurance green card that will significantly reduce costs to those commuting between Serbia proper and Kosovo by vehicles.
The head of the Pristina technical team in charge for insurance issue Rahim Pacolli said that implementation of the new agreement reached in Brussels will start as of 1 August.
