Find the real culprits for the crimes in Mitrovica (KIM Radio)
The crimes in the northern part of Mitrovica have actually occurred and nobody denies it, nor the defence, or those who are in the courtroom, but justice will not be served if you accuse innocent people, says Igor Simic from the legal team of the SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic.
Appearing on the RTV KIM Show "Dogovor", Simic said that during several months of trial, and the victims' family members and other Albanians, who testified, have realized that Oliver Ivanovic and the other four Serbs did not commit the crimes that occurred in 1999 and 2000 in Mitrovica.
Adriana Hodzic, Director of Administration in the municipality of North Mitrovica, considers that the judicial process against Oliver Ivanovic and four other Serbs takes too long and that a decision should be adopted as soon as possible.
"If Mr Ivanovic was not guilty, and I hope he is not, then I wonder who is to blame? We need to look for culprits because the crimes have happened, and the people who perished, have been our fellow citizens, acquaintances or my neighbours. My focus goes into this direction, to find the real culprit. It is nobody's interest to convict an innocent man because it means that the culprit is at large. I only hope that the process will end and that we will have a realistic, or the right decision. "
