UNMIK: Scenes of violence in the Kosovo parliament must not repeat (Blic)

UNMIK today most sharply condemned the violence in the Kosovo Assembly and extreme means used by opposition in order to prevent the work of the parliament and called opposition parties to act responsibly.

“Such actions have no place in a democratic society. They work directly against the interests of Kosovo and the interests of all those who have democratically elected their representatives to the Assembly,” reads the statement of the UN mission in Kosovo.

In the statement UNMIK urges that such scenes must not be repeated, and calls upon the opposition parties to fulfill their duties responsibly, by mature and constructive participation in the work of the Assembly.

Yesterday, opposition in the Kosovo Assembly has thrown a tear-gas aimed at preventing the work of the parliament, which they boycott and request withdrawal of signatures from the Brussels Agreement, and from the one on demarcation of the border with Montenegro. Two female MPs have been taken to the Medical Emergency Center following the incident.
