Air Traffic Control wants to regain the sky over Kosovo (TV Most)
Air Traffic Control of Serbia and Montenegro will take all legal steps to regain full control of airspace over Kosovo, because it meets all the technical, organizational, personnel requirements, said director of flight control of Serbia and Montenegro (SMATSA), Radojica Rovčanin. This sensitive issue is discussed with KFOR, who since 1999 controls the airspace, said Rovčanin adding that it would be natural that the job will be returned to SMATSA. He pointed out that air traffic control could start this job immediately, but this is something that should be agreed by representatives of Serbia and international institutions.
According to Rovčanin, Kosovo media is speculating who will control the airspace over Kosovo, when the contract expires to the Hungarian firm. Rovčanin says that there is speculation that it could be Tirana and points out that SMATSA is far above the Albanian service provider, if the quality and professionalism of the staff is criteria.
