Currently, Kosovo Armed Forces are an unattainable goal (RTK2)

Adviser to the Kosovo Prime Minister Bajram Gecaj considers that the overall political climate in Kosovo, including negotiations with representatives of Serbs but also tensions between Albanian parties, are preventing all talks on the formation of the Kosovo Armed Forces. Gecaj argues that "in this atmosphere of polarization" it is impossible to go further.

The main obstacle to the formation of the Kosovo Armed Forces is the Serbian List, because for constitutional and legal changes to be made, two-thirds of votes by minorities represented in the parliament are required, stated Radio Television of Kosovo. Kosovo Security Forces have weapons, but for now don’t have a mandate to intervene in crisis situations such as response to natural disasters, fire fighting and similar.
