Marić: Most important that protests are not turned against the Serbian Orthodox Church (RTS)

Minister for Local Government Administration in the Kosovo government, Ljubomir Marić, stated that it is important that protests of Kosovo Albanians in Dečani/Deçan are not turned against the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbs who live there. The leadership of this municipality has called the protests tomorrow in this town at 12:00, against the decision of the Constitutional Court which confirmed the ownership of the Visoki Dečani Monastery over 24 hectares of land around it.

Marić said to Tanjug agency that everyone has the right to express its political views in peaceful and decent manner, however it is important that political stands are not negatively directed against the Serbian community, non-Albanian communities in that part of Kosovo, and particularly not against the Serbian Orthodox Church.

“Everyone has the right to express its political view, that is the democratic right. Decision of the Constitutional Court is decision on property rights. What is important is that the rule of law has shown that it can function,” said Marić.
