13 years from murder of children in Goraždevac (KIM Radio)
A commemoration to murdered Ivan Jovović (19) and Pantelija Dakić (12), who were killed by unknown perpetrators on 13 August 2003, while bathing at Bistrica River, will be held tomorrow at the local church in the village Goraždevac, Peć municipality. Four other children were severely wounded too, however no one is held responsible for this crime until today. Following its deployment to Kosovo EULEX took over the case from UNMIK, hence the investigation was later closed due to the lack of evidence.
About a year ago, following a range of incidents against returnees in Klina municipality and incidents in Goraždevac, the unknown perpetrators have thrown a Molotov cocktail on the memorial to victims of the 1999 conflict and murdered children in this village.
Attackers on Serbian children were not found despite the promise of then head of UNMIK that ‘every piece of soil will be turned in order to find perpetrators’, as well as despite a reward of a million euros offered by UNMIK.
Kosovo Police had interviewed 75 witnesses, among whom and wounded children, and searched 100 houses. Parents of murdered boys claim that it is known who are perpetrators and they keep repeating every year that they passed this information to KFOR. Father of murdered Pantelija Dakić described this crime as ‘the crime above all crimes’.
Murder of children in Goraždevac is listed among the four most terrible crimes against Serbs following deployment of the international forces in Kosovo in 1999.
