Kosovo as a casual topic in the Serbian presidential elections (KIM radio, Kontakt plus radio)
During the election campaign Kosovo was not much of a topic for the presidential candidates in Serbia. Some have visited Kosovo but without much fanfare, and the winner although he announced his Leposavić's election rally, dropped out of the visit.
According to the head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić, Vučić has won the votes of 80 per cent of voters who on Sunday went to the polls.
Why the turn out of Kosovo Serbs in the elections was significantly less in comparison to the rest of Serbia (39.21% in Kosovo versus 54.60% in the rest of Serbia, and Pristina region only 28.34 per cent), no one has bothered to explain, nor was anybody interested.
Basically nobody expects major changes in relations between Pristina and Belgrade. Serbs from Gračanica expect more visits and better protection while Albanians in Pristina expect better relations with Serbia.
One resident of Kosovo Polje says that Vučić's representatives are not working for their own people but he nevertheless hopes that his victory will bring something better.
A citizen of Pristina hopes that Vučić and Thaçi will find a compromise on certain issues.
"Aleksandar Vučić and Minister Hashim Thaçi should discuss specific topics. They have to find a compromise," said a citizen of Pristina.
RTV KiM says that Pristina press when writing about the results of presidential elections in Serbia on Sunday, mostly show resentment towards the Government of Kosovo because of "continuing bad tradition by allowing these elections on its territory, which shows that Kosovo has failed to consolidate its statehood and still has no strong reaction on the issue of undermining the sovereignty, on which Serbia works."
