Ivanovic: A senseless attempt to amend the law on the Special Court (KIM radio)
-Now when the date of the Special Court's start approaches, and when it is obvious that many well-known names will be on the list of suspects, it is normal that those in fear are taking measures to reduce the impact of the Special Court and to control the damage, says Oliver Ivanovic, the SDP Leader on the occasion of attempt to amend the law on the court in the Kosovo parliament, reports KIM radio.
Ivanovic, who himself is indicted for war crimes against Albanian civilians, believes it is good to finally determine who is responsible for crimes against Serbs.
-Only the Serbs did not get satisfaction after all these years, and only for the Serbs who have disappeared or are evidently killed, they do not know who the culprits are. This must happen for the sake of peace and reconciliation, says Ivanovic.
For Ivanovic is for a concern the possibility of organizing protests in Kosovo during the initiation of the first indictments.
-It is certain that raising but also the publication of the first indictments will cause great tensions, big protests. Serbs may be endangered because they are always somehow collateral damage, Ivanovic says, but stresses that this time a greater anger is directed at the international community.
-We cannot be calm, we cannot feel secure, but dissatisfaction is being directed towards the embassies and diplomatic corps, as well as the representatives of international organizations that stand firmly behind the view that an international tribunal established under the Kosovo law must begin with its work and be effective in this work, that is, to do what it is founded for.
Ivanovic believes that if the Albanians, through riots or attacks, attempt to force international representatives to give up the Special Court, the consequences for Kosovo would be extremely difficult, reports KIM radio.
