Citizens in Mitrovica North pay tribute to Oliver Ivanovic, Bishop Teodosije served requiem (Novosti, KIM Radio)
Since yesterday afternoon many citizens of Mitrovica North but also from central Serbia pay tribute to Oliver Ivanovic, Vecernje Novosti daily reports today.
Oliver Ivanovic will be buried on Thursday in Belgrade, at 12.30 in the Alley of Great Citizens at Belgrade cemetery and a transport will be organized from Mitrovica North for those wishing to attend his funeral. The same day will be declared as a day of mourning in Mitrovica North municipality, Vecernje Novosti daily further reports.
Serbian Orthodox Church Raska-Prizren Eparchy Bishop Teodosije, served a requiem to Oliver Ivanovic early this morning in the Saint Demetrius Temple in Mitrovica North.
Bishop Teodosije said that he had received the news about the tragic death of Oliver Ivanovic with a great sorrow, KIM Radio reported.
“Grieving over the loss of a true friend and one of the most gifted representatives of the Serb people, who with his persistence and determination to stay in Kosovo and Metohija gave hope in the survival of all Serbs in Kosovo, we pray to Resurrected Lord to let him rest, and we participate in the pain of the Ivanovic family and all those on whom this event left a bitter and hard impact,” Bishop Teodosije said.
Abbott of Serbian Orthodox Church Visoki Decani Monastery, Father Sava said that this horrible crime must not remain unresolved.
“We are all deeply shaken by the cowardly assassination of Oliver Ivanovic, a man of great courage and political charisma. This heinous crime must be fully investigated and perpetrators brought before the face of justice,” Father Sava said.
He also added Oliver was very much attached to Decane, his place of origin.
“I do remember our frequent talks and meetings. We will miss him all, the most his family and colleagues to whom I express sincere condolence. Rest in peace my dear friend,” Father Sava wrote, KIM Radio reported.
KIM Radio also reported citizens would gather today at the Gracanica Monastery at 14.00 hrs to pay tribute to Oliver Ivanovic, under the slogan “We are here.”
