Juncker: I did not ask Serbs to choose between Russia and EU (Tanjug, RTS, Euronews)
President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker said that “he did not ask the Serbs to choose between Russia and EU, because they have to have normal relations with Russia and the best possible relations with the EU,” Tanjug news agency reported on Saturday.
“Serbia has very close relations with Moscow that is much active in the region” Juncker told Euronews in Sofia.
Euronews also reminded that the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov during the last visit to Serbia warned that “the EU with requests to Serbia to choose (between Russia and EU) makes the same mistake as with Ukraine.”
“There is no any possible comparison between Serbia and Ukraine. Second, I have explained to colleagues here in the region that European development is not a development targeted against others, but a process of integration that relates to us. I did not ask the Serbs to choose, because they have to have normal relations with Russia, and to have the best possible relations with the EU,” Juncker said.
