Belgrade Mufti: Kosovo is cradle of Serbia (Tanjug, Vecernje Novosti, Srpski Telegraf)
Islamic Community of Serbia (ICS) has respect towards Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and relatively good relations with the state authorities, Belgrade Mufti, Mustafa Jusufspahic told Serbian media.
Mufti Jusufspahic added, this religious community would like if its opinion on Kosovo is taken.
“We do not like our country to be torn apart, and it is not just to separate the cradle of this country,” Jusufspahic said, conveying the stance of the Islamic Community of Serbia on this matter.
It is in the interest of ICS to have more Muslims in this country, and “by breaking Kosovo away, Muslims are becoming a minority,” Mufti Jusufspahic further said, Serbian media reported.
“This is what I said to the Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, when this country was reconsidering its decision on Kosovo recognition. This is something we sincerely think,” Mufti Jusufspahic added.
He also said, he belongs to the same generation as President Vucic and he is proud that he can tell him everything he thinks, and that he takes into consideration opinion of the ICS when important decisions are made.
“That is why we would like if our opinion when it comes to Kosovo is also taken,” Jusufspahic said, Serbian media reported.
