"My singing has helped," Dacic tells his critics (Kurir, Tanjug, B92)
Foreign Minister and First Deputy PM Ivica Dacic says Kosovo looks like the task of Sisyphus - "but we can never give up."
"It's not a phrase, that's the essence," Dacic wrote in an op-ed penned for the tabloid Kurir.
"All of us who are in power, but also those who are now the opposition, have the responsibility - however Tadic, and Djilas, and Jeremic all seem to have forgotten the meaning of the word," he said.
"Unlike them, it seems to me that the current authorities, headed by Aleksandar Vucic, whose part is my party and myself, are ready to tackle all the difficult decisions," Dacic said.
He pointed out that the Kosovo issue is the hardest of all. "It looks like the task of Sisyphus, but it's up to us to never give up, as much as everything seems hopeless. It's not just a phrase, it's the essence," wrote Dacic.
According to him, it is "easy to say," that this government "is selling out Kosovo," "this government has a catastrophic economic policy," - or, "Dacic sings."
"Gentlemen, you who criticize - to which you are entitled - I tell you: If you were at least a bit more responsible, perhaps now we would not have had so many missed opportunities for Kosovo, having now both the president and the government clutching at a straw that is broken in several places, in order for Serbia to gain something," Dacic said, and added:
"Unlike some, my singing before foreign diplomats has not made things worse, but instead has helped, because the fact is that (Serbia's) diplomatic activity is more recognized than ever. You're bothered by Dacic singing, but you didn't mind when Putin, Obama, Clinton did it."
According to Dacic, "it's fine to criticize each other, this way one arrives at better solutions" - but not to "hate each other."
"What will we all do with the hatred if we come to a situation where we can all fit under one plum tree," wrote Dacic.
