Rakic: Works on bridge in progress, no conditions for opening yet (Tanjug, RTS)
The opening of the bridge on the Ibar is not on the agenda because the reconstruction is in progress, and the assessment is that along to the technical, and the security conditions were not met, says mayor of North Mitrovica Goran Rakic to Belgrade based agency Tanjug.
On the occasion of allegations of the Pristina based daily Zeri, that the opening of the bridge on the Ibar river was deliberately postponed although its revitalization was completed, Goran Rakic told Tanjug that the issue of opening the bridge is also directly related to the previous signing of a memorandum on the demarcation of municipalities, the south and north of Mitrovica, in Suvi Do, reports Serbian national broadcaster RTS.
"All these allegations spoken by the Albanian media and the mayor of South Mitrovica, Agim Bahtiri, are used for internal political activities, and I am sure that they know very well what is said in the agreement," says Rakic.
Zeri reported that Rakic hired a company for additional works on the bridge to give the impression that its revitalization has not been completed and that it was a "money washing''. The same daily reported the statement of the mayor of South Mitrovica, Agim Bahtiri, who said that the opening of the bridge was postponed deliberately to re-open the dialogue on defining the border in Mitrovica and sent a message that "the North cannot get even a centimetre more", reports RTS.
