Association of Journalists of Serbia to Kosovo Assembly: Stop violating the right on the use of the Serbian language (Kontakt plus radio)
Although, according to the Constitution of Kosovo, Serbian and Albanian are official languages, and on Thursday in the Kosovo Parliament, there was no translation into Serbian, just right after the Serbian MPs have left the session.
Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) and Society of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) strongly condemn this act and demand to cease the discrimination of all citizens of Kosovo, as well as journalists, whose mother tongue is Serbian.
UNS and DNKiM say that the violation of the Law that guarantees freedom of speech and expression to all citizens, as well as the right to use the mother tongue, continnues from the place that should serve as an example of respecting the law.
Association of Journalists of Serbia and a branch of this association in Kosovo also demand an urgent reaction of Serb representatives in Kosovo institutions and the Office of the Commissioner for Languages for violating the Law on the Use of Languages and Language Discrimination, reports Kontakt plus radio.
