On Jan. 28, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini invited the Serbian and Kosovo prime ministers to attend a new round of talks in Brussels, on Feb. 1. The meeting to be attended by Prime Ministers Aleksandar Vucic and Isa Mustafa is the follow-up to a Jan. 24 meeting in Brussels, attended by Vucic and Mustafa, as well as the Serbian and Kosovo presidents, resulting in an agreement to lower tensions. The EU high representative said she expected the talks to continue on important measures, continuation of the Belgrad-Pristina dialogue.
"The progress Serbia and Kosovo make on their path to the EU is connected to the progress they make in the dialog," a press release said. The media in Pristina reported on Jan. 29 that Kosovo minister for dialog with Serbia, Edita Tahiri, has said that the topics of the talks will be an energy deal, the implementation of a justice agreement and the forming of the union of municipalities with majority Serb populations.
There will also be talks about the final stage of the dialog, Tahiri added. Previously, on Jan. 28, Vucic talked over the phone with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, to discuss the continuation of the Brussels talks, the Blic daily reported."Vucic and Thaci agreed that the two parties would work actively to preserve peace and stability, and to develop relations between Serbs and Albanians, Belgrade and Pristina," Blic said.
