EP Members urge international investigation on Kumanovo (KosovaPress)
Members of the European Parliament on Wednesday urged international investigation into the armed incident that happened in Kumanovo, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) two weeks ago. During the yesterday’s plenary session, MEPs called on the European Parliament to support FYROM on its road towards the EU, but urged respect for the rights of all its citizens. Austrian MEP Ulrike Lunacek said that she was shocked by the incident in Kumanovo."There should be an independent investigation on what happened there. The allegations that FYROM PM Nikola Gruevski with Russian support has staged the armed conflict, should be investigated,” Lunacek said. Eduard Kukan said that it is necessary to make an independent investigation on the events in Kumanovo, while according to the Slovenian MEP, Ivo Vajgl, ethnic battles in Kumanovo and border problems are typical for this part of the Balkans. Vajgl said that FYROM is under a great influence of Russia, reports KosovaPress.
