Lunacek: Implementation of agreements, priority of the new phase of dialogue (RTK)

The European Parliament Vice-President and Rapporteur for Kosovo, Urlike Lunacek, said that implementation of the reached agreements should be priority of the new phase of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, in order to reach complete normalization of the relations. “We should still wait and see the results of the renewed dialogue. Complete implementation should be priority, being that both parties already gave their consent for the agreements such as energy and freedom of movement.

European Parliament Vice President, Ulrike Lunacek, reacted to the resolution of the Kosovo Assembly calling for suspension of dialogue with Belgrade by saying both parties need to resume talks. “Belgrade and Pristina must get back to the negotiating table and continue dialogue process. Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Dhurata Hoxha, met today in Pristina the European Parliament Rapporteur for Kosovo, Ulrike Lunacek. Hoxha and Lunacek discussed the Progress Report on Kosovo which highlights the positive steps of Kosovo but also the criteria still to be met for the decision on visa liberalisation. Hoxha said that one of the criteria is strengthening the rule of law, expressing the commitment of implementing rule of law reforms, consolidation of good governance but also economic reforms.

Negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina in great difficulties (Blic, RFE)

Director of the Balkan group from Pristina Naim Rashiti says that the process of normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo fell into great difficulties due to problems with the implementation of the agreements reached, but also due to political developments in Kosovo and in Serbia.

"This led to the fact that Prime Ministers of the two countries were not able to continue the dialogue," said Rashiti to Radio Free Europe.
