Hahn to visit Kosovo in the beginning of December (RTK)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj and Kosovo’s Minister for European Integration Dhurata Hoxha said at a press conference that the EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn will be visiting Kosovo in the beginning of December.

According to Haradinaj, this visit conveys the message that Kosovo is a serious candidate for the status of EU candidate, however he admitted that there are more specific laws which require special vote.

O’Connell speaks about the idea of correction of the borders (RTK)

The British Ambassador to Kosovo Ruairi O’Connell has continued with his practice of responding to the questions of the citizens on the social network, Facebook. Asked about the recent idea of correction of the borders, he said the position of Britain with regards to borders has not changed.

“Why are you asking when you know the position of Britain. Our position has not changed since 2005,” O’Connell wrote.

Tahiri: Visa liberalisation ends Kosovo isolation (Telegrafi)

Justice Minister, Abelard Tahiri, said in a meeting with a group of German MPs that his priority has been implementation of visa liberalisation criteria and the strengthening of legislation to fight corruption and organised crime. “Visa liberalisation for Kosovo and its citizens means two things: a step forward in the process of European integration and the creation of a platform to end isolation and give our citizens the opportunity to expand their views, meet and get to know other cultures,” Tahiri said.

Head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group, Avdullah Hoti, said that the last week’s EU-Western Balkans summit in Sofia reconfirmed European perspective for the region but underlined that promoting democracy and rule of law as well as fighting corruption and organised crime remain challenges for Kosovo, especially for, as he said, the “fragile” government.

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said in a Facebook post ahead of Europe Day that this year will be the end of Kosovo’s isolation. “We will receive the well-deserved news of visa liberalisation this year and we are heading determinedly towards gaining the EU candidate status,” Haradinaj wrote. He said EU integration is the main priority of Kosovo and “the youth is our energy needed to walk to European future.”

European Parliament Rapporteur for Kosovo, Igor Soltes, said in an interview that he hoped Kosovo will benefit from visa-free travel to Europe as soon as possible. He said however that it is up to Kosovo to fulfill the necessary criteria. “I hope the solution is found soon for the sake of the people of Kosovo,” Soltes said.

Apostolova: I did not say that one visa criterion is fulfilled (RTK)

Chief of the EU Office in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova, met today with representatives of the parliamentarian group of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).

Apostolova said that she was interested to know what is the position of LDK as opposition party at the Assembly, on treating significant issues for fulfillment of visa liberalization criteria.

Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Natliya Apostolova, met today with the head of parliamentary group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi and heads of three Assembly committees led by this political party. The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said on Tuesday to Kosovo legislators that the issue of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro might be delayed. He reiterated that the border between Kosovo and Montenegro is at Cakor and Kulla. According to Haradinaj, liberalization of visas is a matter which relates to the matter of reforms on law and order, approach to corruption, as well as 22 actions on administrative issues deriving from the SAA reforming agenda.
