Kuçi: Special status and division are not the topics of the dialogue (Koha Ditore)

Kosovo Government has rejected the possibility of the north of Kosovo receiving a special status during “the crucial weeks of the dialogue”, a description given by the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Catherine Ashton for the meetings of Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi and Prime Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic.

Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuçi has removed the dilemma of Pristina accepting something like that. ”Special status and division are not topics for discussion. The topic is implementation of full sovereignty also in that part of our territory,” he said.

Hoxhaj: We will protect Albanians in the region (Express)

One of the senior officials from the Democratic Party of Kosovo and Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj spoke to the paper about the newly-endorsed PDK statute and explains how this is now one of the most modern statutes in the region and that it notes that PDK’s mission is to strengthen and advance institutional position of Albanians in the region.

“This has to do with a clear geographic definition relating to the improvement of political and institutional position of Albanians living in Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro,” said Hoxhaj but at the same time ruled out the possibility of this formulation having any territorial claims or exchange of territories.

Vetëvendosje says that they will not stop the fight for justice (dailies)

On the sixth anniversary of Vetëvendosje demonstration where two protesters, Mon Balaj and Arben Xheladini, were killed by police forces, Vetëvendosje movement has paid tribute to their members by opening an exhibition and a discussion table. Vetëvendosje requested justice for the killing of two protesters and injuring of 80 others.

The leader of this movement, Albin Kurti, said that on 10 February 2007, UNMIK police had orders to kill and had permission to escape from the crime scene. The families of the victims have lost their hopes that justice will be put into its place while they also said that the Kosovo Government did not do anything to reveal the murders of their family members. “We, the family, have become enemy for the Government”, said the spouse of Arben Xheladini.

Three dialogues required between Kosovo and Serbia (Epoka e Re)

Some practical issues in Kosovo, such as discussions between Pristina and Belgrade, are heading towards conclusion but the north of Kosovo is still in a crossroad. According to EU, this issue should be only resolved through the dialogue between the parties. According to EU officials, three dialogues are required. “One between Pristina and Belgrade, another one between authorities in Pristina and Serbs in the north, and the third, between Serbs from both sides of river Ibër,” said Stojan Pelko, Spokesperson at the European Union Office in Pristina. He added that the only sustainable solution is the one that the two parties agree upon.
