Haradinaj vows to keep Serbia out of Kosovo (media)
Outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo and leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) Ramush Haradinaj said he will do everything to make sure Serbia stays away from Kosovo.
“Milosevic’s remains are not stopping! Neither will I in keeping Serbia out of Kosovo. We strengthened our country with an army and protected our market through the tariffs. Kosovo is a sovereign country throughout its territory and Serbia will never have anything to do here,” Haradinaj wrote on Facebook.
PDK endorses Kadri Veseli's candidacy for prime minister (media)
The Steering Council of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) unanimously endorsed Kadri Veseli's candidacy for prime minister of Kosovo.
PDK deputy leader Hajredin Kuci said at a press conference that Veseli is a proven figure, one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and someone who was ready to sacrifice his life for the freedom and independence of Kosovo.
"We chose a man that gives hope for building a future here. We chose a man that can lead an uncompromised war against corruption and nepotism," Kuci said.
Mustafa: LDK’s position firm, won’t give prime minister’s post (Telegrafi)
Leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) Isa Mustafa said that the party’s view is firm in that it will not negotiate the post of prime minister with any other political entity.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting of the LDK general council, Mustafa said: “We will not rush into a coalition with Vetevendosje, we will first see what is the interest of LDK and the citizens. We have had meetings with Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti but he have not discussed division of posts. Our position is firm. We will not enter a coalition by giving up the post of prime minister.”
Tahiri: We forwarded international arrest warrant for Milan Radojcic (media)
Outgoing Minister of Justice Abelard Tahiri said Kosovo institutions will not rest until the murder of the Kosovo Serb political leader Oliver Ivanovic is solved.
“In my efforts to bring to justice killers of Kosovo Serb politician, Oliver Ivanovic, we have received today from the Basic Court in Pristina and forwarded further the international arrest warrant for main suspect Milan Radojcic.
Despite the obstacles in the investigation processes caused by authorities in Serbia responsible for law enforcement, we did not back down and were uncompromised in searching for suspects in order to bring them to justice.
The arrest warrant is a concrete step that will help in shedding light to this case in entirety and will reveal the motives and those who ordered this criminal act. Furthermore, this arrest warrant is proof that the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo is a sustainable system in which all citizens of Kosovo can rely. As we have promised, the Republic of Kosovo and all its institutions will not stop until the murder of the Kosovo citizen and politician Oliver Ivanovic is solved,” Tahiri said in a statement.
Kosovo getting ready to mark International Day of the Disappeared (RTK)
Kosovo Government’s Committee on Missing Persons is making preparations to mark 30 August, International Day of the Disappeared, RTK reported. A steering council has been set up to organise activities which are expected to include a march in Pristina under the slogan “20 years of wait, pain and pride.”
Head of the steering council, Jahja Lluka, said this year the activities organised to mark the day will take place in several cities across Kosovo.
“We will begin with a roundtable discussion on missing persons that will take place in Gjakova together with the association ‘Mothers’ Plights’, a roundtable in Drenas organised jointly by the municipalities of Drenas and Skenderaj, and there will another roundtable discussion at the Resource Centre on the 27th which will gather representatives of all relevant institutions, including international, as well as ambassadors that have supported this issue,” Lluka said.
