Inauguration of northern municipalities to be discussed in Brussels (Koha Ditore)
The contest regarding the content of the invitations for inauguration of the four northern municipal assemblies is expected to be resolved in Brussels, in the beginning of 2014.
Mayors of Leposavic, northern Mitrovica, Zvecan and Zubin Potok municipalities came up on Monday with a joint statement on the reasons for delays of inauguration, foreseen for Tuesday at 11:00 hours. Their rejection to pledge according to Kosovo laws forced the Ministry of Local Administration to request postponement of the inaugural sessions.
Government to reshuffle in January (Tribuna)
The governing cabinet of Kosovo, lead by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, is expected to have another structure in January 2014, reports this daily, based on its sources. According to them, Ministers and Deputy Ministers expect in a few weeks the results of evaluation of their work. Prime Minister Thaçi has warned them for the changes, which intend to increase performance of the Government to a maximum during the year of general elections. Some Ministers and Deputy Ministers from PDK and AKR are expected to be sent to other departments, or to be dismissed, depending on the findings of the evaluation.
“Sheikhs” of the north (Zёri)
The front-page story of this daily reports that citizens of the four northern municipalities of Kosovo, will be the luckiest ones for “having their pockets full with money” in 2014. According to this daily, except for the budget of Kosovo, the four northern municipalities will be also beneficiaries from the budget of Serbia, (from €500 million allocated by Serbian Government for Serb municipalities in Kosovo, €60 million are intended for the north,) the incomes from the customs points 1 and 31, as well as €38.5 million allocated for these municipalities by the European Union. In other words, writes this daily, while the general yearly budget for the north will be €2000 per citizen, the same will be in southern Mitrovica €180 per citizen.
Pacolli: The power in Kosovo is monopolized (Epoka e Re)
AKR leader and Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Behxhet Pacolli, stated that the time has come for economic development. He added that governing in Kosovo is monopolized in hands of two parties which refer either to war or to Rugovism. Speaking about the governing of the country, Pacolli said that Kosovo does not have an efficient governance, despite the fact that he is part of it. “For one reason or another, first of all due to the lack of experience and tradition, we do not currently have an efficient governing,” Pacolli reportedly said.
Haradinaj: We paid the price for supporting Thaçi’s Government (Epoka e Re)
The leader of the Alliance fro the Future of Kosovo, said for Voice of America, expressed dissatisfaction regarding the rhythm of the discussions for normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. He stated that that his party paid the price in the recent elections for supporting this process and other processes of the Government of Kosovo. “We were handicapped because we took over the obligation to help national processes, such as dialog with Serbia, European agenda at the Parliament of the country and legislation related to issues of national interest.
