Police arrest Czech soccer fans, tried to fly drone with pro-Serbia banner during football match (media)

All news websites report that Kosovo Police arrested eight Czech soccer fans on Friday evening, as they were allegedly planning to fly a drone with a pro-Serbia banner during a European Championship qualifier between Kosovo and the Czech Republic today. Police issued a statement saying they stopped two cars with Czech number plates and found a drone, a banner reading "Kosovo is Serbia", a Serbian flag, six knives and two walkie-talkies. The eight persons were released on Saturday morning. The Czech Football Federation issued a statement distancing itself from the act, saying that there is no room for politics in sports. Pristina-based Indeksonline reports that Kosovo Police special units are searching several other suspect vehicles with Czech plates in Pristina before the football match.

Mimoza Kusari-Lila joins Vetevendosje (media)

Most news websites report that Mimoza Kusari-Lila, leader of Alternativa and former member of the Kosovo Assembly, has joined the Vetevendosje Movement and has been included in the party’s list of candidates for the October 6 parliamentary elections. Kusari-Lila said the idea of change and state reforms is what unites her with Vetevendosje. “We have some differences with Vetevendosje, but we are focused on what unites for the change that is needed. We are united by the idea of change and the much-expected state reform,” she said.

Former LDK MP leaves politics, says he will support PDK leader Veseli (media)

All news websites report that Ramiz Kelmendi, former MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and one of the most successful businessmen in Kosovo, has decided not to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Epoka e Re reports that Kelmendi has decided to leave politics but said he will support Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) leader Kadri Veseli.

Korab Sejdiu, former member of the Kosovo Assembly, said in an interview to the paper that only a coalition between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and Vetevendosje (VV) “could save Kosovo from the risk of another PDK-AAK-NISMA coalition. According to Sejdiu, the latter parties have captured all institutions. He said Kosovo is in a current state of chaos and that the new government will be decisive for the country’s future. He further argued that a coalition between the LDK and VV could have won 70 seats in parliament.

Serbian President has one condition to recognise Kosovo independence (Lajmi)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that Serbia cannot recognise Kosovo’s independence if there is no compromise solution and added that Belgrade’s position on the matter is not easy. “Albanians expect to receive confirmation of what they think they have already won. They don’t want to accept anything less, because they don’t want to admit that they cannot be a consolidated state without Serbia. Pressure on Serbia will certainly grow. But Serbia cannot accept Kosovo’s independence if no compromise solution is reached,” Vucic told reporters in Belgrade after meeting US senators Chris Murphy and Ron Johnson.
