Osmani slams govt for refusing to lift tariff on U.S. products (Klan Kosova)

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani held an interview with Klan Kosova during her stay in Antalya. In the interview, which will be published in full today, Osmani also talked about her proposal for the Kosovo government to lift the tariff on U.S. products. “This has nothing to do with fiscal issues, this has to do with strategic alliances. Imagine in April 2025, Kosovo has zero tariffs against Serbia, while it still has tariffs against its existential ally, the United States of America. For me this is a shame, there is no greater shame,” she argued.

Kallas: We share more than geography with the Western Balkans (media)

Our security and stability bind us close together. Tonight, I am meeting with Foreign Ministers from the Western Balkans and the EU to discuss security and defence cooperation,” Kallas said in a post on X before the meeting.

Gervalla: Kosovo deserves clear support on road to EU and NATO (media)

Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla, said at the meeting of the EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, that Kosovo deserves clear support for its aspirations to join the European Union and NATO. “Minister Gërvalla mentioned three urgent steps that are required now, which contribute immensely to stabilizing circumstances in the Western Balkans region and opening the way for the region's integration into the EU. The steps in question are: lifting EU sanctions against Kosovo, completing the process of Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, and support for Kosovo's application for EU membership,” a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes.

Kurti: Our obligation to strengthen army and defend Kosovo (Koha)

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Sunday that the battles of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the sacrifices of the martyrs “raise our obligation to strengthen the army of Kosovo”. “The glorious battles of the Kosovo Liberation Army happened in the recent past and precisely because of this they raise our obligation to strengthen our army and police, to protect every meter of the border of Kosovo,” he argued.

Kosovo’s Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, during a visit to Turkey, said that strengthening the defense capacities is a priority of the government. He made these remarks during a meeting with the president of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency, Haluk Gorgun. “We talked about cooperation opportunities between our two countries in the defense industry and strategic steps that contribute to regional security. The development of the defense industry strengthens relations between Kosovo and Turkey, and it contributes strongly to further developing our capacities by creating self-sustainability for ammunition of different calibers,” he said.

Djuric met with Kallas: Pristina must fulfill its obligations and establish the CSM (Kosovo Online)

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Djuric, met last night with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, ahead of the informal dinner for Western Balkan foreign ministers.

Djuric emphasized that EU membership remains Serbia’s strategic commitment, underscoring that the country is deeply dedicated to its European path and, as a credible partner, seeks to contribute to the peace, stability, and prosperity of Europe, the Serbian MFA stated.

The Serbian Foreign Minister reiterated that reforms remain a top priority and expressed hope that the European Union will recognize and positively value Serbia’s efforts.

Regarding the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Djuric affirmed that Belgrade is fully committed to the process and that the new EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue will have Belgrade’s support.

At the same time, Minister Djuric stressed the necessity for Pristina to fulfill its obligations under the agreements reached thus far, and above all, to establish the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM).

He further stated that Serbia’s key interests lie in maintaining regional stability, enhancing regional cooperation, and fostering the best possible neighborly relations. In that context, Minister Djuric highlighted that Serbia will continue to contribute to the easing of tensions through a constructive approach.

Vucic: New Government around Easter or May Day holidays; Over 120,000 attended Saturday’s rally (Beta, N1)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that he believes the new Serbian government will be presented next week, around the Easter or May Day holidays.

Speaking on television, Vucic read aloud letters that citizens had left for him during the “We Won’t Give Up Serbia” rally and noted that thousands of party membership applications were signed and submitted during the event. He claimed that more than 120,000 people from outside Belgrade attended the rally.

“Three estimates—two from security services and one from the party—differ by about 1,000 people. There is video documentation of every vehicle entering Belgrade, except maybe from Mladenovac and Lazarevac. Between 126,735 and 128,080 people entered the city from outside Belgrade. And that’s without counting Belgraders, who were certainly the majority at the rally… Of course, they weren’t all there at the same time,” Vucic said.

He added that the sense of pride felt by those attending the rally cannot be taken away: “The people showed that it’s possible to make a stand without destruction and blockades.” However, he also said that “those tasked with destroying Serbia” will continue trying to do so.

Commenting on the student-led rally in Novi Pazar, Vucic said he had attended far larger gatherings in that city and that he plans to visit Novi Pazar soon.

He added that he was bothered by some of the messages from the event related to “special status, autonomy (for Sandzak), and Naser Oric”. Vucic stressed the importance of working on Serb-Bosniak relations, saying they “must be as good as possible.”

“There will be no more impunity for blockades”

Vucic said that there will be no more impunity for blockades of city transport, railway stations, or other public infrastructure, adding: “There’s no need for deep philosophical analysis here.”

He emphasized that the demands raised at last night’s rally in Belgrade would not be dropped:

“These demands are aligned with the Constitution, and that’s our obligation. Someone suspended the Constitution—but it wasn’t those in power, it was those who tried to hijack the state and its institutions. They literally hijacked the country.”

Discussing the Belgrade rally, Vucic insisted it was “significantly larger” than any opposition gathering, claiming:

“Our people weren’t walking—they stood still. That takes up five times less space, and still they covered more area,” adding that “the majority were from Belgrade.”

Asked again about the Novi Pazar protest organized by blockading students, he said:

“I wasn’t impressed. At most, there were 4,320 people—2,875 of them from outside the city. We know the numbers precisely.”

Serbia urges Sudan to reconsider recognition of Kosovo (KoSSev, Kosovo Online)

The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep concern over Sudan’s recent decision to recognize Kosovo’s independence, calling into question the legitimacy of the Sudanese government and the validity of its international decisions.

The move comes just days after Serbian FMA Marko Djurić held a conversation with his Sudanese counterpart about deepening bilateral ties.

In a statement, the Serbian ministry emphasized that the recognition of Kosovo is “a serious violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the valid UN Security Council Resolution 1244.”

The statement also questioned the credibility of Sudan’s current transitional government, which has been grappling with a devastating internal conflict since 2023. “The current political situation in Sudan, characterized by uncertainty and a lack of legitimacy, calls into question the validity of such international decisions,” the ministry said.

“It is doubtful whether the current government of Sudan has the capacity to make decisions of vital importance to international relations, especially concerning issues of sovereignty and territorial integrity of UN member states,” the statement added.

Archive of Public Assemblies: About 55,000 people at the meeting "We will not give Serbia" (N1)

About 55,000 people were present at the beginning of the rally "We will not give Serbia", held in Belgrade, the Archives of Public Assemblies announced. As they state, they made an estimated number of attendees based on recordings at 7 p.m., reported N1.

The gathering occupied the plateau in front of the House of the National Assembly, Nikola Pasic Square and Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard up to the intersection with Desanka Maksimovic Street.

“No Euro 2027 with Shkije”: Banner at Kosovo match triggers investigation (KoSSev)

A provocative banner reading „No Euro 2027 with Shkije“ caused a stir during a futsal match between Albania and Denmark in Orahovac on Saturday night, prompting police action and raising tensions over Albania and Serbia’s joint hosting of the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Kosovo Police confirmed they questioned eight individuals after the banner—written in Albanian as “FSHF – JO EURO 2027 ME SHKIJE”—was displayed shortly before the end of the match.

The term Shkije is a derogatory word used by some Albanians to refer to Serbs, and the message was directed at the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF), criticizing its cooperation with Serbia.

Police said security personnel promptly removed the banner and that all eight individuals were released after questioning. An investigation is ongoing under suspicion of “inciting division and intolerance.“

Turkey’s role in Sudan’s recognition of Kosovo (Kosovo Online)

Sudan’s recognition of Kosovo came in the wake of major changes in the Arab world, which culminated late last year with the meteoric fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. Since then, Syria has become the geopolitical epicenter where new power dynamics in the region are being determined and influence among major powers is being redistributed.

The most significant external actor and driving force of change in Syria is Turkey. It can be said that the recently elected Syrian government is a manifestation of the pro-Turkish faction in the country. Turkey had two strong reasons to independently engage in the Syrian conflict and bring about the fall of the Damascus regime. The first was a long-term goal to control the Syrian Kurds and prevent their secession, which could become the foundation of Kurdish statehood—in essence, to block the creation of a “Syrian Kosovo.”

The second reason is the millions of refugees in Turkey, which it is eager to send back to Syria by any means.

By establishing control over Syria, Turkey’s influence in the region skyrocketed—especially in Sudan.
