Serbian elections, challenge for Kosovo (RTK)

The government of Kosovo has not yet taken a stance on whether it will allow Serbian parliamentary elections to be held in the predominantly-Serb municipalities. Deputy Minister of the Local Government and Administration Bajram Gecaj told Radio Kosova that the government of Kosovo has not yet discussed Serbian elections in Kosovo. Meanwhile, political analysts say Kosovo institutions should treat the subject with caution. Albert Krasniqi from the Kosovo Democratic Institute think tank said that in the past, Serbia held elections in Kosovo in the same manner as it did those in Serbia and this should not be allowed to happen this time. He suggested that Serbian elections could take place but based on international standards whereby polling stations could be opened in Kosovo but the ballots would be counted in Serbia.
