Kosovo PM calls for unity (media)

Several news sites have published a Facebook post made today by Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa. “Many of our friends are telling us that Kosovo has achieved a lot in the last year but that we have not promoted these achievements. There is the Stabilization/Association Agreement, the first contractual agreement with the European Union reached last year, which enables our integration in the European economy and democracy. Last year, the prestigious U.S. Millennium Challenges Corporation (MCC) company ranked Kosovo among the countries that benefit from its funds (around hundreds of millions of US$). We signed an agreement for the biggest U.S. private investment in Kosovo, over €1 billion, for the construction of the Kosova C power plant. We have reached agreements for important investments with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The International Monetary Fund has assessed that Kosovo has fully stabilized its budget, unlike many countries in the region and beyond. There has been a 25% increase in social aid, over 25% increase in pension and contribution funds and an average 6% increase in salaries. We have finalized almost all visa liberalization requirements. No government official is involved in corruption affairs. We have been careful to create the best conditions possible for the judiciary, judges and prosecutors. Therefore, there is no reason why we should not unite, government and opposition, men and women, young and old, institutions, civil society and business, in order to move processes forward to build a strong and respected state with a Euro-Atlantic perspective. There is no need for divisions between patriots and traitors, accused and corrupted, because we all know one another. What we need most is to work on building democratic institutions with our people.”
