Office of the PM: Law on Trepca cannot be contested by any judge (Lajmi.net)

Besnik Berisha adviser to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, stated that the Law on Trepca cannot be contested by the Special Chamber of the Supreme Court.

In an announcement for the Radio Free Europe, Berisha said that the only competent institution to interpret eligibility of a law or of a bylaw is the Constitutional Court.

“The Constitutional Court has concluded that the Law on Trepca is in complete accordance and that it does not violate any right as pretended in this press release,” Berisha said.

The Special Chamber he added, does not have the authority to assess constitutionality and its subject to interpretation of the Constitutional Court.

“Therefore, the claim of a judge or whoever the claim to be, can be a personal opinion that can cause a confusion, but in no manner can it change the status of the Law on Trepca,” Berisha said.
