President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga took part in the official opening of the Global Summit of Women taking place in Paris which focuses on women’s economic empowerment and their role in the society.

President Jahjaga delivered a speech at the opening ceremony where she said that empowerment of women also empower families and society as a whole.

“Women have the strength to redesign policies, strategies and open doors that will guarantee greater development and prosperity and also ensure harmony between communities and nations”, said Jahjaga.

“Our goal is to ensure that our actions reflect our respect for individual rights of women – their right to life, progress and expression. Next year we will mark the end of the Millennium Development Goals which are directly related to the achievements in the field of gender equality. We will also mark the 20^th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and the Action Platform of 1995”, said Jahjaga.
