Kosovo joins campaign for assistance to women victims of sexual violence (RTK)
Under the slogan “Time to Act”, the campaign for raising awareness for assisting women survivors of the conflict in Kosovo was launched today. This makes Kosovo part of 140 countries to have hosted a performance for supporting raped women.
British Ambassador to Pristina, Ian Cliff, said the initiative for organising such events across the world came after the screening of Angelina Jolie’s film “Land of Blood and Honey” which features women raped in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“After serving as an ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sudan and now Kosovo, I take this as a personal issue”, said Cliff.
Igballe Rugova from the national council for survivors of sexual violence in Kosovo said women of Kosovo will join with women from all over the world and their cases will be treated with greater dignity.
