Dick Marty: I never focused on organ harvesting (Koha)
Former Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur, Dick Marty, in an interview for SRF (Swiss radio), says statement by Special Investigative Task Force (SITF) prosecutor, Clint Williamson, is of extreme importance.
“Not too many people expected such positive results. Ambassador Williamson speaks of crimes against humanity. He knows what meaning these words have. What has happened today is extremely important. Witnesses don’t trust the Kosovo or international justice system. There are reasons for this. In some cases, witnesses were killed, made to disappear, or threatened. Even today it is difficult for the witnesses to come forward”.
Marty said organ harvesting was never the main focus of his CoE report and that he had only referred to a few cases. “Williamson came to the same conclusion”, Marty said, adding that the citizens of Kosovo deserved to have leaders with clean hands.
“Until today the link between politics and organised crime was so strong that it was impossible to establish a normal administration. And the international community bears much responsibility for that”, added Marty.
