BELGRADE, BRUSSELS - Director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Marko Djuric will meet with representatives of the interim authorities from Pristina in Brussels Tuesday, and the main topic of the talks will be the situation in the northern KiM city of Kosovska Mitrovica.

Djuric told Belgrade-based TV Pink on Monday that he expected to hear new ideas for the resolution of issues related to the bridge connecting the southern (Albanian) and the northern (Serb) part of the city.

Djuric and Kosovo's Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri already met in Brussels on July 11 to discuss the Peace Park, which was set up by the Serbs in the middle of the main bridge over the Ibar River on June 18, after they removed the roadblocks they put up three years earlier to protect themselves against the attacks by Albanian extremists.

However, even after ten hours of EU-facilitated talks, no agreement was reached.

The aim of the talks is to ease the tensions in northern Mitrovica, Djuric said, adding that he expected the Tuesday meeting in Brussels to end in an agreement.

"Normalization of relations, stability and peace should also be in the interest of Albanians, and not just us," Djuric underlined.
