Maric: Sustainable development strategy for the Serbian municipalities (KiM radio)
Minister of Local Government Administration in Kosovo Ljubomir Maric announced that businessmen from Serbia and others who will invest in Kosovo and Metohija will be offered a sustainable development strategy.
Maric said that the strategy will contain the details of the potentials for investment in 10 municipalities. "Those are local governments that will be part of a future Association / Community of Serbian municipalities (ZSO), so this will also be the development strategy of the ZSO," said Maric.
Maric said that that he is working on the development of the strategy together with the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Branislav Stojanovic, representatives of local governments and other political representatives of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. "We expect that this document will soon be ready. It has a different approach, because it was done by people in the field, who have extensive information on the resources. In the document are listed all the potentials for investment by areas - infrastructure, agriculture, health, sports, education ...," said Maric.
Once adopted, the strategy will be available to every potential investor and entrepreneur. "It is intended primarily for our businessmen, but also opens up the possibility for joint investments, as well as the ability to withdraw funds from the European Union, IPA and other development funds," Maric said.
When asked what the potentials are for investors in Kosovo, especially south of the Ibar/Iber River, Maric says that in this part great potential is agriculture, but also tourism particularly Brezovica resort. According to him, Gracanica, as a central part of the municipalities south of the Ibar/Iber River, is very interesting for the distribution centres for trade.
