SAA: the foundation for improving Kosovo’s relations with Serbia (Akter)

Kosovo must implement the agreements already achieved through dialogue with Serbia in Brussels and continue working towards further agreements.

EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, during the discussion at the European Parliament ahead of the vote on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with Kosovo, said that the agreement should strengthen regional cooperation, and that Kosovo has committed to achieving visible and sustainable improvement of relations with Serbia based on the agreement.

In a publication on the European Commission website, Hahn added that it was a basic principle of the Agreement and that the continuation of the dialogue with Serbia, therefore, was a legal obligation.

Kosovo will have to implement the agreements that have been achieved so far and continue to work towards further agreements, which, as we have seen in recent months, sometimes involve difficult decisions and a need for compromise, said Hahn.

The European Parliament will vote the SAA with Kosovo tomorrow.
