Staro Gracko: Memorial plaque to Serb victims desecrated (RTK2, KIM radio, B92)
Unknown persons overnight desecrated and damaged a memorial plaque dedicated to Serb victims from the village of Staro Gracko in Kosovo.
The names of 14 Serb farmers gunned down while harvesting their fields in July 1999 were inscribed on the plaque, as well as those of the victims of NATO's aggression that took place earlier the same year.
The memorial was placed at the elementary school in the centre of the village.
A graffiti reading "hakmarrja" (Albanian for "revenge") was also sprayed next to the broken plaque, Tanjug reported on Friday morning.
The incident has caused disturbance among the few remaining Serbs in this village, and was condemned in the strongest terms by Kosovo Minister for Return and Communities Dalibor Jevtić.
Jevtić told Tanjug that this was "an act of vandalism" and that he would visit the village on Friday.
