Jagland: The Council of Europe monitors the situation in Kosovo after the arrest of Djuric (KIM radio)
Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland said that the council previously expressed concern over the arrest of Marko Djuric in Mitrovica late last month, adding that the Council of Europe follows the further development of the situation, KIM radio reports.
Jagland responded to a question of a deputy in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Dubravka Filipovski, who questioned why there was no reaction of the Council of Europe and condemnation of the arrest and brutal attack on Marko Djuric, the director of the Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija, reports the radio.
Filipovski, a member of the National Assembly's permanent delegation to the Council of Europe's Council, raised several questions at the CoE Parliament during the regular spring session, which are very important at this current political moment for Serbia, the Serbian Parliament said.
Also, Filipovski reacted harshly to the report of the EP of the Council of Europe on the humanitarian needs and rights of internally displaced persons in Europe, to which 220,000 internally displaced persons from Kosovo have not been introduced, who for all these years face the inability to return to their homes, affected by continued disregard of UN Resolution 1244, the poor security situation in Kosovo and the absence of economic opportunities for returnees.
In particular, she referred to numerous daily attacks on a small number of returnees of Serb ethnicity in Kosovo, while the culprits were not brought to justice at all, reports KIM radio.
