DSS breaks local coalitions with SNS over "surrender of Kosovo" (Kossev, N1)
The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) has decided that all municipal councils of the DSS should break local coalitions with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), reports Serbian media.
DSS President Milos Jovanovic told reporters that the coalition with the Progressives was broken up in 14 municipalities.
At a press conference at the party's headquarters in Belgrade, it was said that the decision to break the coalition with the SNS was made "because of engagement in treason, i.e. the surrender of Kosovo and Metohija".
"The problem, however, is that we no longer work under normal political circumstances today, and no matter how local coalitions have no connection and cannot be linked to national politics, they have and must have to do with something that can be called a national betrayal," Jovanovic estimated.
SNS: DSS actions support further demolition of their own state
The Serbian Progressive Party reacted to this news, stating that the DSS is in fact a party responsible for the break-up of its own state.
"I guess they hope in the DSS that the citizens of Serbia forgot that they were the main culprits for breaking up the state, that it was precisely their omission, while they were in power, that led to the separation of Montenegro from Serbia, and Pristina to obtain key support in the international community for a unilateral declaration of independence," said the SNS Vice President and Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric.
