Tanjug: EU demands Pristina's unique position (RTS)
Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) reports, quoting Serbian state news agency Tanjug, that the European Union, as mediator in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, at this moment, has no answer to the question when the process of comprehensive normalization of relations could continue.
In addition to tariffs on goods from central Serbia, the big problem is the lack of a common position among all political actors in Pristina.
Tanjug reports that in Brussels claim that the dialogue process has not been blocked, but that with the Pristina side primarily is worked on resolving the tariffs' issue.
"At a meeting with the newly-formed Pristina delegation last week in Brussels, it was clearly told that the EU wants the tariffs to be withdrawn and they understood it. Concrete ideas were put on the table. They now have their own internal dialogue and we are waiting to see what the result will be, " European diplomatic sources told Tanjug.
In a recent interview with Austrian journalists, Commissioner Johannes Hahn also said he hopes for "Kosovo's reply in the coming days".
In Brussels, it is estimated that "Pristina will remain stuck" on the path of EU integration if it does not respect CEFTA commitments and the spirit of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, however, the "big problem" is the lack of a common attitude of all political actors in Pristina.
They say in EU that the sense of the newly-formed Pristina delegation can also be found here, which should be a "mechanism for adopting common positions" on the Kosovo side.
"Thaci remains the prime negotiator at the level of the presidents, but the problem is that on the side of Kosovo there are internal conflicts. We want Thaci, when he comes, to have a comprehensive mandate, and this delegation is a mechanism which can help in that sense," explain in EU circles close to the process of dialogue.
The European Commission also emphasizes that they are currently working with the Pristina side to "resolve the issue of customs", all in order to move things in the overall process of achieving a comprehensive solution for relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
"There is no waiting, it is about the final goal, which was an ambition from the beginning of the second phase, but also in parallel with the unblocking of the customs situation," Tanjug was told in Brussels.
