US does not want entire north of Kosovo to belong to Serbia (Danas)

Deadline to reach an agreement on Kosovo has been extended by the end of this year, Belgrade-based daily Danas writes referring to its diplomatic sources. The daily added at the moment the US is mainly focused on Venezuela, while the EU is dealing with forthcoming elections for the European Parliament. US supports minimal correction of the borders and exchange of territories, and it includes that Serbia would get Lesak and foothills of Kopaonik Mountain, while Kosovo would get villages in Presevo municipality, located on the west side of the highway, known as Corridor 10. It is also possible Pristina would get the village of Veliki Trnovac in Bujanovac municipality, western diplomats told Danas. Our sources say the US opposes an idea that the entire north of Kosovo belongs to Serbia, “and this particularly refers to Mitrovica North,” Danas daily said, adding that the establishment of the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities is also “put on hold.”
